Guided tour: Guerlain and the Orient

As China opened up to the West in the 19th century, the House of Guerlain played an important role in perfumery. Aimé and Gabriel, then Jacques Guerlain, drew their inspiration from the dreamy Orient. Extract of Orange of China, Tsao Ko are launched at the end of the 19th century and Liu at the beginning of the 20th century. Guerlain even tried to have its name translated into Chinese! But it is more globally the Orient that fascinates. Shalimar, launched in 1925, refers to India while Mitsouko is inspired by a novel set in Japan. The visit will present perfume bottles, posters and photos of this oriental inspiration at Guerlain.
