Lecture - “La matière des songes” a meeting with Thierry Daman, artist

Starting from a foundational ceramic gesture, through the creation of “symbol∞”, I am currently exploring the world of porcelain, drawn by its specific and extreme aesthetic qualities, as well as the world of traditional glazes, primarily based on iron or copper oxide, in order to reveal the uniqueness of this “color-matter” that is glaze.
This journey has taken me through time and space, to the Far East—particularly China, Korea, and Japan.
Ceramics appear to me as an extraordinary medium, the one most capable of creating the conditions for a genuine aesthetic experience at the heart of daily life and intimacy.
I aspire to create the conditions for the emergence of a ceramic that has the obviousness of a stone and a butterfly’s wing. A ceramic whose essential function is sensory, sensual, and perhaps poetic—a symbol, enabling us to apprehend, and notably to touch, another dimension.
