Cristina Ortega and Michel Dermigny, directors of Galerie Sinapango, specialise in modern and contemporary Japanese ceramics, as well as in early Japanese art and, more broadly, Asian art.
On the occasion of the 9th edition of Printemps Asiatique Paris, they will present two complementary exhibitions:
At Galerie Charpentier, from June 4 to June 8, their selection takes a collector’s perspective. It brings together a group of lacquer objects, including rare boxes from the Ryukyu Islands dating to the Momoyama period, as well as several singular works, such as an erotic incense box from the Ming period and a Canton lacquer clock that also functions with incense. Ceramics and furniture from the second half of the 20th century complete the presentation.
At 23 rue de Beaune, from June 3 to June 12, the exhibition Summer Light adopts a more luminous and seasonal approach, exploring the relationship between the works, light, and interior space. It presents a selection of 20th-century Japanese ceramics, some of which are being shown at the gallery for the first time.
