Located on rue Mazarine for over thirty years, Galerie Jacques Barrère builds on a family tradition dating back to the early 20th century. Taken over in 1969, it has established itself as an international reference in the field of Far Eastern art.
With its recognised expertise and carefully curated selection of Chinese, Japanese and Himalayan works of art, the gallery has contributed to major museum collections, including the Musée Guimet and Musée Cernuschi in Paris, the Shanghai Museum, the Miho Museum in Japan, the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
For the 9th edition of Printemps Asiatique Paris dedicated this year to Korea in celebration of the 140th anniversary of Franco-Korean diplomatic relations, the Galerie Jacques Barrère will present a highly important Goryeo-period Bodhisattva. Only three examples of this type are recorded, and among them, it is the best preserved ; he two others belong to Korean museum collections.
