Southeast Asian Arts

Tenzing Asian Art, launched in 2006, specializes in rare Himalayan art objects of the early Kashmiri Buddhist period, Pala India, and the Licchavi Nepali era that survived in Tibet. Tenzing Asian Art helps private individuals and museums worldwide to build collections of exquisite and significant Himalayan art.
Founder and CEO Iwona Tenzing began her curatorial career 30 years ago at Xanadu Gallery in San Francisco, where she helped secure the gallery’s reputation as a prestigious dealer in traditional Himalayan, Chinese, and tribal art. Iwona’s extensive ties to the Himalayas and its people are built on decades of travel and research in the region.
In 2015 Iwona partnered with Chino Roncoroni, a leading specialist dealer in Himalayan art and Central Asian textiles and courtly objects. Chino is known internationally for his expertise, his discerning eye, and his integrity. His great love of this art led him in the 1970s to work privately with international dealers and to form compelling collections in Europe and America. In 2003 Chino was instrumental in assembling the Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibit “Himalayas: An Aesthetic Adventure,” which is still regarded as the most comprehensive and memorable show of objects from the Himalayan region. Chino has sponsored numerous research and book projects by scholars and experts in Himalayan art, culture, and history, many featuring works from his own collection.
The objects represented on Tenzing Asian Art’s website reflect Chino and Iwona’s impeccable taste and deep expertise and are reference works in their own right.

For Asia Week Paris, Tenzing Asian Art are presenting a carefully selected group of Himalayan bronzes, Tibetan ornaments, and thangkas, reflecting the richness and diversity of devotional art from the region.
